POSITION PROFILE
The Server takes orders and delivers food and beverages to guests at Palihotel Melrose. The Server ensures the quality of the food and the overall guest experience are both excellent.

Palihotel Melrose is a boutique hotel offering 33 intimate, fun and comfortable guest rooms, a Lobby Lounge, and an inviting outdoor courtyard. Palihotel Melrose is located in the heart of the Melrose Shopping District, a vibrant and dynamic area known as one of Los Angeles’ most popular and trendsetting destinations for entertainment, dining and shopping. THE TASK AT HAND:
- Consistently assess, anticipate, and meet guests' needs, and respond quickly without losing focus or projecting a mood that detracts from guests' dining experience
- Communicate professionally with guests, coworkers, and management
- Comprehensively understand the food and beverage menus and communicate them to guests effectively and accurately
- Recognize problems when they arise and resolve them appropriately, using good judgment, tact, and initiative, according to company policy and procedure
- Ensure a clean and organized workspace per side work guidelines issued by management
- Follow uniform guidelines
- Understand and execute management's instructions, read written company memorandums, and communicate when more direction is needed
- Other duties as assigned
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
- Provide legible communication and directions
- Compute basic arithmetic
- Must possess, or obtain upon hire, a valid ServSafe Food Handler certification
- Perform job duties with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy
- Prioritize, organize, and follow up
- Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment
- Follow directions thoroughly
- Understand guests' service needs
- Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team
- Work with minimal supervision
- Maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs
- Ability to bend, reach, and move throughout the dining and service areas as needed
- Uphold Palisociety's brand standards of hospitality, style, and service in every guest interaction
- Represent the unique culture and character of Palihotel Melrose consistent with Palisociety's company-wide guidelines
- Maintain a neat, well-groomed appearance in accordance with Palisociety grooming standard
- All colleagues must follow Palisociety's Uniform Guidelines and General Grooming Guidelines at all times while on shift.
- Keep all issued uniform pieces clean, neat, and pressed; report any damaged items to your manager
- Maintain clean, neat, and professional hair and grooming; long hair must be tied back, and facial hair kept neat and well-trimmed
- High school certificate or equivalent
- Minimum of one year of experience in a similar position
- All colleagues must maintain a neat and well-groomed appearance (specific standards will be provided)
